High school girls flag football isn’t sanctioned in Kansas—and to the KC Chiefs, that means there’s a key piece missing from Kansas football scene. In one of 34 states without a path for girls to play, they’re putting their legacy on the line to make it happen.

On April 23, 2026, the KSHSAA Board (70 members) will vote on sanctioning H.S. Girls Flag Football for the 2026–27 school year. A YES vote adds the sport by August 2026. A NO vote delays it until at least September. Participation is optional—schools opt in.
We brought the flags all around KC
The vote wasn’t guaranteed, but we made it feel like one: 61 yes, 1 no. Now she can play.
